The Rules of Life. [A Speech By TiaLynn]

Post  TiaLynn on Thu Mar 17, 2011 3:10 pm

Have you ever thought about life in general? Raise your hand if you ever have. Now, raise it if you think it’s a great thing. Raise it if you can’t stand it; raise it if you think it is pointless. Now look around. We all have different opinions, this much will always be clear. But I am here today to tell you MY opinion and speak the truth about life and the rules attached to it.

How many times have you thought life wasn’t fair? Be true to yourself. We all have; in fact, studies have shown that teenagers use the phrase “It’s not fair” 8.6 times a DAY. Well, life is not fair children, get used to it, you got it from your parents who have said that so often you decided that THEY must be the most idealistic generation ever. Let’s get things straight, they heard it from their own kids, they realize rule number one; life is not fair, that is a real self-esteem booster for you, is it not? In reality, or, the real world, no one will care about your self-esteem like schools do, or well, say they do. This may come as a shock, but rule two states that the real world actually expects you to actually accomplish something before you feel good about yourself, and kids still complain it is not fair. Well, kids… see rule number one.

Let’s now reflect upon your school and average teenage life. Think hard now. How many of you hate your teachers, or at least hate one? Well, you can sit there and say you don’t until you turn blue, but you would be lying. If you think your teacher is tough, wait until you get a boss, good luck with that. Think about your job, many of you work in a restaurant, and if not, you at least have once. However, flipping burgers is not beneath your dignity. Your grandparents had a different word for burger flipping – they called it ‘opportunity’. Opportunities look bigger coming than going, you will see this looking back on your life, trust me.

Before you were even born, your parents weren’t as boring as they are now. They got that from paying bills, cleaning your clothes and listening to you talk about how cool you thought you are. So before you save the rain forest from the parasites of your parent’s generation, try looking in the closet of your own room. If you mess up, don’t even worry about it because it is not your parents fault for the way they taught you, so don’t whine about your mistakes - learn from them. To be honest, living well really is the best revenge out there. Being miserable because of a bad or former relationship just might mean that the other person was right about you. Work is good, but it’s not that important, money is nice, but you can’t take it, or anything else with you. Statistics show most people don’t live to spend all they saved; some die even before they retire! Anything we have isn’t really ours; we just borrow it while we’re here… even our children.

Bill Gates once said: "Your school may have done away with winners and losers, but life has NOT. In some schools they have abolished failing grades and they'll give you as MANY TIMES as you want to get the right answer. This doesn't bear the slightest resemblance to ANYTHING in real life. Life is not divded into semesters. You don't get summers off and very few employers are interested in helping you 'FIND YOURSELF'. Do that on your own time." Not one shred of evidence ever supported the notion that life is or ever will be serious; eat well, stay fit, die anyway.

Some additional rules and tips are; artifical intelligence is no match fro natural stupidity, and, don't worry what other people think, they don't do it often. However, someone who thinks logically provides a nice contrast to the real world. If you choose between two evils, pick the one you've never tried before. A conscience is what will always hurt the most when all of your other parts feel so good. Expirience is a wonderful thing. It enables you to recognise a mistake when you make it again. By the time you make ends meet... they move ends. Feeling the truth yet? Does it burn?

Speaking about burning, let's talk about the heated relationships you all think you are in. The five most important worlds for a healthy, vital relationship are, "I apologize" and "you are right." Everyone is normal until you get to know them, so learn to pick your battles, ask yourself: "Will this matter one year from now? How about one month? One week? One day?" If he or she says that you are too good for them, believe them. Just know when you yourself make a mistake, make ammends right away. It's easier to eat the crow while it's still warm. The most destructive force in the world is gossip, so if you are going to be able to laugh about it, you may as well laugh about it now.

If you woke up this morning, congratulations! You have another chance! So for all of those out there talking about how life is great because you got laid or how much it sucks after you were through some random crap, remember; it's all crap and good put in a blender and dumped onto your plate to worry about. Bon appetite!~
